Helena Petrovna Blavatsky
Madame Blavatsky’s life work is contained in her book “The Secret Doctrine”.
Russian born, but spending her later life in the USA, she revived an interest amongst Americans for the occult and esoteric and she founded The Theosophical Society in New York City.
The purpose of the society was for the study of esoteric ideas, where she introduced the ideas of the Eastern mysticism of Hinduism and Buddhism to those who were interested.
The wrote the work of her lifetime, The Secret Doctrine, whilst living in London in 1885, it is said to contain a cosmological vision of humanity’s lost history and secret destiny. This work was published in 1888, two years before she passed.
However, Madame Blavatsky’s work and words continue to live in the present day as The Theosophical Society still exists and you can look up the Theosophical Society in England and Wales.
There is something here thought that saddens me about Madame Blatavsky and that is because she is not a household name. People have likely hear of Nostradamus and it feels to me that Madame Blavatsky should be equally as well known for this work.
But to her credit, what Madame Blavatsky created lives on – a society for courses, education and a place for people to explore the metaphysical.
