Florence Scovel Shinn
If you have not already met, allow me to introduce you to Florence Scovel Shinn.
I love Florence because she is straightforward and direct, there is no messing about here. I often pick up one my collection and open at a random page for inspiration and guidance.
Born in 1871 she lived until 1940, which gave her a reasonably long life for that era.
Florence worked as an artist and book illustrator but was drawn into the metaphysical world, which at the time was likely heavily male dominated. However, Florence stood out – perhaps because people appreciated her no nonsense style and she published her first book in 1925.
Her books are special because Florence instinctively and intuitively understand the other worldly (you will find references to God and religion, but that is reflective of the period she lived in) but most importantly, understanding the importance of HOW you needed to FEEL when manifesting what you want and needed. Her ‘treatments’ as she calls them are what today we would know as mantras. Something to repeat to remind you that you already have what you want.
There are four books that she is known and you can often buy these as a collection. Her books are:
· The Game of Life and How to Play it
· Your Word is Your Wand
· The Secret Door to Success
· The Power of the Spoken Word
There is also a fifth book I have, The Magic Path to Intuition. The manuscript for this book was discovered in 2012 and found its way to Hay House Publishing. This small book is, I feel, worth its weight in gold.
My view on Florence is that I feel that she clearly understood co-creating and was ahead of her time in guiding and helping people. Her books all full of affirmations to help in all aspects of life, often money, abundance, but also health, happiness.
