Intuitive and Spiritual Living: Self-Health Part 4 - Soul Healing for Your Voice

This article marks the last in a series of four about intuitive and spiritual living and self-health.  You can read the previous ones here.

I am an advocate for holistic healing and passionate that we have a choice of what those methods of healing, whether they are considered for conventional or alternative.  Society and conditioning would tell us we have to choose one over the other.  That we have to believe in the science of Western medicine or that we take what is known as the Alternative Approach.  My belief is that all forms of healing are valuable and should be available to us.

In the previous blogs I have spoken of how ancient healing methods can still be valid today, that those who were considered healers were victimised during periods of history such as the Witch Trials and that there are no written records.  Let us not be fooled into thinking that just because a written record does not exist, that the healing methods didn’t exist.  Maybe like me, you just intuitively know and feel that there is a large part of women’s healing history that has been lost to us.

When I wrote the first draft of this article, I intend to publish on Thursday 16th April and when I checked my publishing schedule, I saw that the same day is World Voice Day.  This synchronicity felt very personal to me.  If you have read the previous three articles, you may remember that I speak of the missing part of history.  The part of history that has no written record and the oral record no longer exists or is not valued.  How the historical record of medicine is about men by men and the witch trials stemmed from the fear of healers – mostly women who were the midwives, nurses and doctors of their day.  A history that has not been recorded because the collective of a patriarchal society did not want to listen.  They wanted to make sure that those voices were not heard. Here we are today in an absolute paradox of being heard but not always having the courage to do so, because we want to keep ourself safe.  It can feel safer to stay quiet that use our voice.

My original intention with this article was to share with you some of my favourite books about healing, particularly holistic healing, the history of what happened to women of wisdom and how we can reclaim some herbal and wisdom knowledge for ourselves.  I hope there is something in this selection that ignites a light in you, inspires you and sets you on your path of Self-Health.

On World Voice Day, if you feel you need to give yourself a rest or stay quiet for the sake of your own Self-Health, I support you.  If you feel you want to speak up, I support you.  My life experience (in this life, on this planet) is that it depends on the phase and stage of my life as to how I use my voice.  Maybe you feel the same way.  I know that for a long time, I thought it was my voice or courage that needed healing so that I could speak up.  What I have learnt is it was neither of those things.  It was indeed, my soul that need the healing.

As intended, below are some books that may be of interest to help with self-health.  If you feel that want personal support to heal your soul, you can contact me by email: support@ruthannrichards.com and put ‘soul healing’ in the subject line.
